AUF WIEDERSEHEN TIMO!
I would like to let everyone know that our one-and-only Timo Lange left early this morning, Sunday, June 13, to head back home to Hamburg, Germany. Although my intentions were to meet up with Timo before leaving town, due to our schedules being so crazy, we were not able to make plans to get together. However, we did talk and text a few times.
Timo has been a wonderful young man both on and off the tennis courts and we will miss him dearly. For those of you who able to spend time with Timo away from the courts, I am sure you realized how awesome it was to be able to call him your friend. Hopefully you will keep in touch with Timo and maybe one day see him again in person. Germany is an incredible place to visit!!!!
Danke Timo for everything! You are a "classy" kid who will be missed......and remembered even more! You were our MVP this year, in many ways, and the best "CLAY COURT" player Milford has ever had!
Good luck young man! Wir Lieben Dich!
Coach Hoover
Congratulations to Timo Lange for achieving First Team All League - Buckeye Division. And, to Ryan Wagner for earning Second Team All League – Buckeye Division.
The boys’ varsity tennis team is anxious to get out on the courts for match play this spring! Although the team lost three important players to graduation, Coach Jeffrey Hoover is excited with the potential the 2010 team offers.
This year’s roster is comprised of 8 players, 5 of which are returning varsity letter winners from 2009. Leading the way this season will be senior co-captains Gilbert Marchant and Stewart Dowd. Having played together at 1st doubles last year, their experience will be vital while being used at different positions this season. Gilbert looks to be destined for 2nd singles but could see time at 1st doubles now and then. Stewart will be the lead man at 1st doubles, but could see some time in singles action as well. Both Gilbert and Stewart have improved their overall play since last year, which should result in more success as individuals and in team play.
Playing 1st singles this year will be junior Timo Lange. Timo is visiting Milford High School this year by way of Hamburg, Germany. The addition of Timo to the program allows for other players to be positioned where they are more suited to play. Timo’s experience spans 9 years, with most being played on clay courts. With his knowledge of the game and strong tennis skills, Timo will be fun to watch for our team and fans! Junior Ryan Wagner will play mostly at 3rd singles, but could possibly play some doubles also. Ryan’s team experience includes both singles and doubles at the varsity level.
Rounding out the line-up for the Eagles includes juniors John Mechlin, Ari Fitter, Franklin Underwood, and freshman Adrew Beckerich. The combination for doubles action at this time is still uncertain. However, each player is expected to do well at their respective court and will have the opportunity to earn court time.
Coach Hoover encourages everyone to get out and watch the team play as they focus on winning the FAVC Buckeye championship. Although home courts are not yet ready, the team looks forward to playing this year’s home matches at Lunken Playfield. Everyone is excited with finally having courts being built on campus and should be ready for play this summer/fall.
SEE EVERYONE AT THE COURTS!!!!!
