Behind a career night from Jack Engelman, including an overtime-forcing three-pointer, the Milford High School basketball team pulled out a 69-67 double overtime victory in an Eastern Cincinnati Conference boys basketball thriller on Wednesday night. Engelman netted a career-best 22 points, while matching his high with 11 rebounds for his second career double-double.

KEY MOMENTS & RUNS
- Milford burst out the gates to a 7-0 lead in the first three minutes, but led just 17-13 after one quarter.
- Turpin got hot in the second making 7 of 10 field goals to trail by only three (30-27) at the half.
- Halfway through the third, two free throws by the Spartans’ Mitch Johnson trimmed the Milford lead to five, but a quick 5-0 spurt by the Eagles pushed them in front by a game-high 10 at 41-31.
- Engelman started the fourth with two quick buckets and once again Milford was up 10, before the Spartans came alive from beyond the arc.
- As they have in previous match-ups with the Eagles, the Spartans started knocking down triples, nailing four a 12-2 run to tie the score at 50.
- In the final minute, Tyszkievwicz hit four free throws and Baker hit one giving Turpin a 55-52 lead with 16 seconds left.
- On the ensuing possession, Engelman hit an off-balance three, just his second of the year, with 1.5 seconds to play to force OT.
- In the first OT, Brad Hall tipped in a miss to push Milford ahead 60-59 with under a minute left. After a Turpin turnover, Wenzler hit two free throws, but Tyszkievwicz’s three forced a second extra session.
- Another Tyszkievwicz three early in the second overtime gave Turpin a two-point lead, but five straight points by Kirk pushed Milford up three.
- After a Wenzler free throw with 20 seconds left, Turpin had two shots at a tying shot, but Engelman came away from the final scrum with a game-clinching rebound as time expired.

- The Milford victory coupled with Loveland’s win over Anderson ensures a finish of no worse than a tie for third in the ECC standings.
- Milford won the battle of the boards for the 15th time this season in 21 games.
- The Eagles were victorious despite shooting a season-low .556 (15 of 27) from the foul line.
- Engelman finished with a career-high 22 points on 10 of 11 shooting, while matching his best with 11 boards.
- Keenan Farrell matched his career-high with five rebounds.
