SETTING THE SCENE:  Milford’s boys volleyball season came to a close following the first round of the Division I South bracket of the Ohio High School Boys’ 2016 State Championship Tournament.

A LOOK BACK:  The final week of the regular season began with Milford heading to Fairfield High School on 5/11, where the Eagles hoped to even the series following a loss earlier in the year.  Though Fairfield won the first two games, Milford fought back and won game three only to fall in the fourth.

The road trip continued when Middletown hosted Milford on Thurs., 5/12.  The Eagles took the victory 3-0, completing the sweep of the Middies for the 2016 season.

Milford was awarded the 10th seed for the Ohio High School Boys Volleyball Association’s South Region Tournament, and scheduled to face #9 Princeton in the first round of tournament action.  The Eagles had fallen to Princeton twice during the regular schedule and unfortunately the tournament meeting was no different, as Princeton ended Milford’s season with a 3-0 win.  Princeton will advance to face #2 Elder in the next round.

POLL WATCH:  Moeller ended the year atop the Division I area coaches’ poll.  Elder moved up to second, while St. Xavier fell to third.  Alter will end the season in fourth, and Lakota East moved up from sixth to fifth.  Loveland of the ECC received one vote, while Milford did not receive any votes in the final poll.
