SETTING THE SCENE: The Milford boys tennis teams will celebrate four players this week at the last home matches of their senior season: Logan Chrislip, Ben Hunter, Michael Stevens, and Zach Jaquillard. With any luck the weather won’t be an issue, as the Eagles look toward three this week, including #6 Mariemont.
A LOOK BACK: Not surprising, the weather was not kind to the Eagles last week, though they were able to get both the Eastern Cincinnati Conference Tournament, as well as the GCTCA Coaches’ Classic completed. Wednesday’s match with Lakota West was rained out and is not expected to be rescheduled.
Milford finished the Eastern Cincinnati Conference Tournament tied for fifth, with Loveland. The team from Turpin was crowned the tournament champions, as they swept the individual singles matches as well as taking first in 1st doubles. Jared Gibson placed fourth in 3rd singles, while Holden Owens and J. Kendall Morehouse finished fifth in 1st and 2ndsingles. Also ending the tournament in fifth were both doubles teams, Logan Chrislip-Zach Jaquillard, and Reed Spencer-Ben Mason.

Milford played in Flight C of the Greater Cincinnati Tennis Coaches Association tournament, where they placed 5th. Mason won the flight with 230 points.
Jared Gibson took third place in 3rd singles, and the 2nd doubles team of Reed Spencer-Ben Mason placed third as well.

INSIDE THE ECC: With no conference or individual games last week, Milford’s record remains the same at 3-5 overall and 2-3 in ECC conference play. Turpin and Walnut Hills continue to lead the league, both 3-0 in conference play, followed by Kings (2-0). Milford and Anderson are tied at 2-3, while Loveland moves to 1-3, and Glen Este is 0-4. In singles play, Holden Owens is fifth in 1st singles wins; J.Kendall Morehouse (2nd singles) is sixth and Jared Gibson (3rd singles) is ranked fifth in wins. Logan Chrislip/Zach Jaquillard are fourth in wins at 1st doubles, and the team of Reed Spencer/Ben Mason fall to second in wins in 2nd doubles.
POLL WATCH: Sycamore will end the year in first place in the final week of the Cincinnati Enquirer area coaches’ poll. Mason, St. Xavier, and the ECC’s Turpin conclude the year in second through fourth, while Moeller reclaimed the fifth position from Walnut Hills, who fell to ninth from fifth. Kings moved up from seventh to sixth, while Anderson will end the year in ninth. Milford received seven votes in the final poll.
