SETTING THE SCENE: The Milford High School girls golf team will put its perfect dual record on the line this week as the 4-0 Eagles hit the links for a pair of matches. After ripping off three wins last week, the Eagles will take on Eastern Cincinnati Conference foe Anderson, as well as a non-conference date with New Richmond.

A LOOK BACK: Aug. 23 vs. Walnut Hills: Milford used a strong team effort to edge Walnut Hills by a 210-218 score on Aug. 23 at Deer Track. Playing against the reigning ECC Player of the Year in Walnut’s Katie Hallinan, the Eagles rode identical rounds of 51 from youngsters Megan Lafrance (sophomore) and Megan Loux (freshman) to the win.

 

Aug. 24 at Kings: The Eagles jumped to 3-0 in league play on Aug. 24 with a 206-235 victory at Bel-Wood Country Club. Junior Casey Broxterman carded a nine-hole score of 46 to capture medalist honors for the day.

 

Aug. 25 vs. Madeira: Milford improved to 4-0 in dual action this season with a convincing 186-270 win over Madeira at Deer Track On Aug. 25. Casey Broxterman took medalist honors for the second day in a row with a stellar round of 40.

 

INSIDE THE ECC: A perfect start to dual play this season has propelled the Eagles into first place in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference early in the 2016 season. At 3-0 in league action, Milford is just ahead of Loveland, the defending ECC Champs. Individually, the Eagles have two players ranked inside the top-10 of the ECC scoring leaders with junior Casey Broxterman sixth with a 46.8 average and sophomore Bre Severns tied for ninth with a 48.8 average.

 

POLL WATCH: The Eagles continue to receive votes in the weekly Division I area coaches’ poll, receiving a single vote in the Aug. 29 edition of the rankings. A tight battle at the top of the rankings shows Sycamore with a slight advantage of Ursuline, despite the latter holding a seven to five edge in first place votes. McAuley holds down third with Mason and Lakota West, each with one first place vote, rounding out the top-five. The ECC is represented by Loveland in 10th with Walnut Hills and Anderson joining the Eagles in the others category.
