SETTING THE SCENE:  The MHS varsity volleyball team enters Eastern Cincinnati League competition this week, with two conference games on the docket.  Thursday’s ECC matchup of Milford vs. Loveland will be featured LIVE at www.icrctv.com, and will rerun on ICRC TV Channels on tape delay through September 5th.  The Eagles finished 2-1 last week in non-conference action, with wins over Amelia and Sycamore.

 

A LOOK BACK:  Milford opened the week Tues., Aug. 23rd by traveling to Sycamore.  The Lady Eagles began the match with a win in the first set, 25-20.  The Aves battled back to take the second, 17-25, but the Eagles followed with wins of 25-23, 25-15 to take the win.

The Eagles had little trouble as they hosted Amelia in Milford’s first home match of the season Thurs., Aug. 25th.  Milford varsity girls swept Amelia in three straight sets, 25-21, 25-8, 25-11.  The victory was celebrated on the new scoreboard, installed in the MHS main gym over the summer.

Saturday’s contest with McNicholas High School proved more of a challenge for the Eagles, and Milford fell to McNicholas, 25-16, 25-14, 25-12.

INSIDE THE ECC:  Milford sits at 2-2 overall, with no conference games on the schedule thus far.  That changes this week, as Eastern Cincinnati Conference league games will get underway for the league.   Milford leaders in the EEC top 10:

POLL WATCH:   The weekly area coaches’ poll is updated each Monday afternoon; check back for updates.

Last week’s poll:  Week two of the area coaches’ poll finds Mt. Notre Dame and Ursuline Academy tied for first, while St. Ursula, Mason and Lakota East each remained in the 3-5 spots at the top of the poll.  The ECC’s Turpin (6th) remained the only conference program ranked in the top ten, while Anderson (22), Loveland (12), Walnut Hills (5), and Kings (1) received votes.
