SETTING THE SCENE: The Milford High School girls golf will look to build upon a conference-opening victory against Turpin when the Eagles take to the course for consecutive matches this week. MHS will start the week with annual Battle of the Eagles, hosting Walnut Hills on Tuesday. Just one day later, Milford will take to the course at Bel-Wood Country Club to battle Kings. Both matches are scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.

A LOOK BACK: Aug. 16 vs. Turpin: The 2016 conference season kicked off for the Eagles on a winning note as MHS knocked off Turpin by a 188 to 192 score on Aug. 16 at Reeves Golf Course. Sophomore Bre Severns posted the low score of the day for the Eagles, carding a 44.

 

Aug. 17 vs. Loveland: The Eagles match with their inter-township rival was postponed by inclement weather. No make-up date has been announced at this time.

 

INSIDE THE ECC: After the first week of conference play, the Eagles along with Loveland were each winners in their ECC opener to share the top spot in the league rankings. Individually, the Eagles have two players ranked inside the top-10 of the ECC scoring leaders with junior Casey Broxterman fourth with a 45.3 average and sophomore Bre Severns in sixth with a 46.6 average.

 

POLL WATCH: The most recent Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches poll shows Milford among other squads receiving votes. The rankings were released on Aug. 22. The top of the board shows a tight race between Sycamore and Ursuline with each receiving five first place votes and just two points separating the squads. McAuley is third, just ahead of Mason, who received the other first place vote and Lakota East rounding out the top-five. The ECC is represented by Loveland in ninth, with Kings and Turpin joining the Eagles in the others section. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
