SETTING THE SCENE:  The MHS varsity volleyball team will enter the second week of competition at 0-1, following a tough loss to Talawanda in the season opener.  Two non-conference games will help the Eagles prior to their first conference games, when they will face Turpin and Anderson who finished first and second in 2015 in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference.

 

A LOOK BACK:  Milford headed to Talawanda on Sat., Aug. 20 for their season opener and lost to Talawanda, but not without a fight.  The Eagles claimed the first set 25-22, while the home team rebounded to take the second and third sets 18-22, 20-25.  The Eagles battled but lost an amazing fourth set, 30-32 to give Talawanda the win.

 

THE WEEK AHEAD:  Milford continues the season with some non-conference opponents this week, as they warm up prior to the opening of conference play next week.

INSIDE THE ECC:  With Eastern Cincinnati Conference league games yet to be played, the fight for the ECC is wide open.  With just one game in the books, a number of Eagles are already leaders in the EEC top 10

POLL WATCH:  Week two of the area coaches’ poll finds Mt. Notre Dame and Ursuline Academy tied for first, while St. Ursula, Mason and Lakota East each remained in the 3-5 spots at the top of the poll.  The ECC’s Turpin (6th) remained the only conference program ranked in the top ten, while Anderson (22), Loveland (12), Walnut Hills (5), and Kings (1) received votes.
