SETTING THE SCENE: Milford’s girls cross country finished 4th for the second consecutive week, this time at last week’s Harrison Invitational. Now the team will have a quick turnaround and head to the Kings Invite for a rare weekday contest.
A LOOK BACK: Andrea Armstrong was the latest Lady Eagle to take her turn leading girls cross country team, and did so last week at the Harrison High School Invitational. Armstrong’s 21:19 finish was a new personal best, and good for 12th place overall. On Armstrong’s heels; Olivia Loeffler crossed the finish line in 13th at 21:20, with Emma Beck (21:23) right behind in 16th place. Cymone Horton (21:40) was 23rd, and Marissa Detore ended the race in 25th with a time of 21:49.
The Eagles finished fourth at the Harrison High School Invitational, among twelve teams. Seton ran away with the championship, while Anderson and Oak Hills were separated for second and third by just 2 points. Erica Schloemer of Seton crossed the finish line first, in 19:52.

THE WEEK AHEAD: The Eagles have little time to enjoy all their nice finish at Harrison, as they will be back in action for a rare weekday race at the Kings High School Invitational. The Kings Invite will be held Tuesday, Sept. 27th, at Landen Park. The girls varsity race is scheduled to start at 5:00 pm.
INSIDE THE ECC: Olivia Loeffler (t-21st) and Emma Beck (23rd) remain the leaders for the Lady Eagles among the ECC’s top runners. Milford’s other top five runners are not far behind; Andrea Armstrong (30th), Cymone Horton (32nd) and Marisa Detore (38th).
POLL WATCH: There were a number of changes in week five, though Mason continues with the most votes for number one in the Cincinnati Enquirer area coaches’ poll. A pair of ECC programs hold the second and third positions, though this week Turpin moved to second as Kings fell to third. Ursuline Academy jumped several spots to fourth, and St. Ursula fell from fourth to fifth. Lakota West fell from fourth to sixth this week. Anderson (12), Loveland (5) and Walnut Hills (2) received votes this week while Milford was not listed in week five.
