SETTING THE SCENE: A slate that feature three teams ranked among the city’s best is in front of the Milford High School boys golf team as they embark on the latter stages of its regular season. Still very much in the race for another Eastern Cincinnati Conference crown, the Eagles will take a pause from league play on Wednesday when they take part in a quad meet with two of the top-three squads in the city, St. Xavier and Mason, along with a strong Oak Hills squad. Milford will also take to the links against a Kings squad just behind the Eagles in the ECC rundown. The tough competition should position the Eagles well for the upcoming ECC (Sept. 29) and OHSAA Sectional Championships (Oct. 4) in just a few weeks.

INSIDE THE ECC: The ECC standings show Loveland with the advantage with a perfect 3-0 league slate. Milford is 2-0 in league head-to-head contests and sits second, with Kings just behind at 3-1.
Individually, the Eagles feature two the league’s top- ranked golfers in seniors Nathan Arnold (1st-37.5 average) and Aaron Wade (4th-38.5).
POLL WATCH: For the third straight week, Milford is ranked sixth in the weekly area Division I coaches’ poll, released on Sept. 12 and sponsored by the Cincinnati Enquirer. St. Xavier remains the No. 1 ranked squad with seven number one votes, but is just a few points ahead of Lakota East who received an identical number of top nods. Mason, Elder and Moeller round out the top-five above the Eagles. The ECC is also represented by Loveland in eighth, Kings in 10th and the duo of Turpin and Anderson, each receiving votes. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
