SETTING THE SCENE: The Milford High School girls golf team will open postseason play on Wednesday (Oct. 5) when they take to the links at Walden Ponds Golf Course for the OHSAA Sectionals. The Eagles finished second this season in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference and will try to make an impact in the postseason beginning with Wednesday’s sectional tournament. The Eagles will try to be among the top-four teams overall that will advance to districts. The four best individuals among non-qualifying teams will also punch their district tickets on Wednesday.

A LOOK BACK: Sept. 27 at Loveland: The Eagles concluded their regular season with a 173-197 loss to Eastern Cincinnati Conference Champions Loveland on Sept. 27 at Hickory Woods Golf Course.
INSIDE THE ECC: With wins in both the preseason and postseason tournaments, Loveland wrapped up the 2016 Eastern Cincinnati Conference Girls Golf Championship. Milford earned second place in the overall standings for 2016.
Individually, the Eagles have two players ranked inside the top-10 of the ECC scoring leaders with junior Casey Broxterman sixth with a 46.6 average and sophomore Bre Severns 10th with a 49.6 average.
POLL WATCH: The Eagles did not receive any votes in the final edition of the Cincinnati Enquirer Division I coaches’ poll, released on Sept. 26. Ursuline was crowned the poll champion with nine of the 12 first place votes cast. Sycamore took second with the other three votes, with Lakota West, Mason and McAuley rounding out the top-five. Loveland was ninth in the final rankings with Turpin of the ECC also receiving votes. The final coaches’ poll can be viewed at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
