SETTING THE SCENE: The MHS girls volleyball team will take the momentum of their second ECC win into another week of challenging conference play. The Eagles defeated Glen Este to end the week, and will face Turpin and Walnut Hills in the week ahead.
A LOOK BACK: The Eagles headed to Loveland Tuesday to face off with the Tigers, one of two teams who share the lead in the ECC. Loveland, demonstrating why they are ranked #8 in the area coaches’ poll, took the win over Milford in straight sets. Though the Tigers took the first set 25-13, the Eagles nearly fought to a win in the second but fell 25-21, and Loveland’s 25-16 win in the third sealed the victory.
Milford hosted Glen Este, a team the Eagles lost a hard fought battle to earlier in the season. Though this match was similar in the number of sets and scores, the outcome was different. The first set was a close 23-25 win for the Trojans, but the Eagles rallied to take the next two, 25-12 and 25-13. Glen Este fought back to a 16-25 win in the fourth to force the fifth and final set. Milford always plays hard in those fifth sets, and the hard work payed off this time as Milford took the set 13-15, and thus the win overall.
THE WEEK AHEAD: Milford’s schedule doesn’t get any easier this week, as the first match on the schedule is with EEC leader and #5 Turpin. In addition, the ECC’s Walnut Hills travels to Milford, and the Eagles end the week with a trip to Lebanon for a nonconference match.
