The 2015 Eastern Cincinnati Conference Boys Golf Champions from Milford High School were well represented on the league’s conference awards as six players were honored. Junior Nathan Arnold was one of three first team selections, while also being tabbed the conference’s player of the year. In addition, Milford head coach Phil Sheldon was named ECC Coach of the Year for a second straight season.
A junior, Arnold enjoyed an outstanding campaign, finishing the regular season with the ECC’s second-best average (38.1). He also earned runner-up honors at both the conference tournament with a 76 and the OHSAA Sectionals with a 74. Arnold has won All-ECC honors three straight years, including back-to-back first team nods.
Sheldon led the Eagles to a second consecutive ECC Championship, as well as a 10-2 regular season dual record. Milford also narrowly missed a sectional championship, finishing just one shot behind champion Lakota East.
Joining Arnold on the All-ECC first team are freshman Justin Horn and junior Aaron Wade. Horn came up huge on a big stage, taking medalist honors at the ECC Tournament by one shot over teammate Arnold, carding a 75. While placing eighth at sectionals, Horn also finished fifth in the ECC with a 39.2 average. Wade, now a two-time first team All-ECC selection, was the third-ranked player in the league during the season with a 39.2 average. In addition, Wade placed third at the OHSAA Sectionals and 11th at the ECC Tournament.
Representing Milford on the All-ECC second team are senior Jon Snider and sophomore Tristin Woster. Snider placed 11thin the ECC in average at 41.9 this fall, just ahead of Woster who came in 13th at 42.0. Milford’s honorable mention choice was Cameron Loux, the ECC’s 29th-ranked player this fall (45.2).
