It's a historic day for Milford Athletics and the Milford School Community as the Milford Athletic Alumni Foundation (M.A.A.F.)officially gets off the ground! The M.A.A.F. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is another arm of the Milford Athletic Community. The purpose of this newly created organization is to foster a life-long connection among alumni through our shared passion for sports and community. The group aims to support and enhance the athletic programs of Milford Schools by providing resources, promoting engagement, and celebrating the achievements of our past and present athletes. By uniting our alumni network, we will strive to create opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and continued growth, ensuring that the spirit of Milford athletics thrives for generations to come.

The M.A.A.F. is an independent organization from Milford Schools and the Milford Athletic Booster groups, but will work in conjunction with these two entities, including a mutual partnership with the long-standing Milford Schools Foundation group.

“The reality of school funding in this current day and age, is that athletics/extracurriculars/fine arts are not going to receive public dollars for operations, facilities, and large scale improvements,” stated Milford Director of Athletics Aaron Zupka. “In order to keep up with other schools in our conference, Southwest Ohio, and to continue to offer competitive programs for our students, we have to look at creative private funding streams that will help take the burden off schools and the taxpayers.

“In reality, the model of Alumni Associations is already present with many private schools as this is the lifeblood of their existence,” Zupka continued. “Some long-standing, historic public schools (Withrow, Walnut Hills, Princeton, etc.) have adopted this model and have achieved significant types of endowment. In many cases, public schools believe they can rely on state funds to provide the resources they need, and this is becoming increasingly more and more insufficient. This is where the idea of the Milford Athletic Alumni Association was born.”

Before the idea of the M.A.A.F. came to fruition, the group met with numerous other alumni associations in the Greater Cincinnati area to learn more about their organization and some best practices when getting a similar system in Milford off the ground.

The M.A.A.F. consists of three voting Trustees: Jennifer Stitt (President), Carla Rawlins (Secretary/Treasurer) and Jennifer Evans (Director of Alumni Engagement).

The goal of the organization is to engage new members of our alumni community from all areas of the state, country, and world and connect them to the current and future happenings and successes around our distinguished school district.

The group plans on taking on some large scale facility/development projects of the athletic boosters so they can focus on more year-to-year enhancements and operational assistance to our 32 sport teams.

Some upcoming projects include:
-Modernizing of restrooms/concessions at Charity Lucas Field and adding a team locker room
-Replacing the grass/dirt infields for our varsity baseball and softball fields with synthetic turf
-Getting ahead of the future NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) movement in Ohio and create a funding mechanism when this becomes official in the near future

An official website with more information, how to stay connected, and to donate towards future projects to support our student-athletes, coaches, and teams has been established here.
