The Milford High School Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that former collegiate standout and local high school product Marie Plitt will become the school’s new head girls volleyball coach, pending approval of the Milford Exempted Village School District board this spring. Plitt will begin working as head coach during the offseason to prepare for the upcoming year. In addition, Marie’s mother, longtime high school coaching great, Julie Plitt, will join the program as varsity assistant coach.
The Plitt family should be familiar to longtime Milford volleyball fans as Marie was a two-time Eastern Cincinnati Conference Player of the Year at Loveland High School. She went on to a stellar playing career at Ball State where she was a three-time All-Mid-American Conference selection, as well as a MAC All-Freshman Team honoree. She also earned a pair of American Volleyball Coaches’ Association All-Region accolades.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be the next Women's Volleyball Head Coach at Milford High School,” Marie Plitt said. “Milford is a first-class community and school district that our staff and I are thrilled to become a part of. My goal from day one is to create a culture and environment that leads to growth on the court, in the classroom, and within the community as a whole.
"I know first-hand the high level of competition within the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, the broader Cincinnati area, and Ohio as a whole,” Plitt continued. “I look forward to making our mark across all three. I am excited about the opportunities that Milford has to offer, specifically the tremendous facilities, resources, staff, and community support. I’m ready to get to work with the student-athletes and take this team to the next level!”
Away from the volleyball court, Plitt received a degree in Psychology from Ball State in 2022 and is nearing completion of a Master’s of Social Work from BSU. She was also a multi-time Academic All-MAC selection during her playing career.
"We are very fortunate to have one of the top rising stars in the volleyball coaching world coming to Milford,” stated Milford Director of Athletics Aaron Zupka. “Marie is a proven winner on and off the court and the Plitt family is highly regarded in the Greater Cincinnati area. Her experience playing in the ECC, club volleyball at Elevation, D1 volleyball at Ball State, and understanding of the landscape of volleyball in Southwest Ohio will serve our program well.
“I know our girls will be extremely excited to play for Coach Marie and she will be a great teacher, mentor, and positive influence for them,” Zupka continued. We have some tremendously talented players coming up the ranks in Milford Volleyball and I can't wait to see where this program is heading!”
Julie Plitt has amassed over 400 coaching victories on the sidelines during a 20-plus year coaching career that has included stops at Loveland, Reading and Wyoming. Plitt’s accomplishments include 12 undefeated conference seasons, 14 sectional titles, seven district titles and seven trips to the regionals. She's been a league coach of the year 13 times, city coach of the year 11 times and a one-time Division II Ohio Coach of the Year.
“We are also very fortunate to have Julie coming on board as her top assistant,” Zupka added. “Julie will bring a plethora of knowledge and expertise to our program.”
